LATEST YORSWITCH AUCTION OFFERS EVEN GREATER SAVINGS

East Riding residents who signed up for the latest round of YORSwitch could save an average of £177 following the recent auction between energy suppliers.  In total, 80% of people who registered in the East Riding could save money on their energy bills if they choose to switch.

In the East Riding, over 3,000 households registered.  YORSwitch registrants were combined with a number of other similar initiatives around the UK to create a collective of over 18,000 households.  The auction resulted in a number of market leading tariffs being created just for YORSwitch participants.

As collective switching schemes become better known, they are attracting more Big Six suppliers and smaller, independent suppliers to the table.  There were three winners in this auction – Ovo Energy, British Gas and E.On.

Residents should have now received their personal offer letters or emails letting them know if they could be saving money against their current energy deal, and if so, how much money will be going back in their pocket.

Registration has now reopened for residents who missed out before the auction.  Anyone wanting to find out if they could take advantage of the energy deals negotiated through YORSwitch simply need to visit www.eastriding.gov.uk/yorswitch or contact the council to receive a no obligation offer.

Gary from Kirk Ella has accepted his offer, making an estimated annual saving of nearly £100.  He says, “I received my personal offer shortly after the auction and it was immediately clear that I could save money by switching supplier. The switching process has all been taken care of by YORSwitch and so far it has been very straightforward”.

YORSwitch will take care of the whole switching process, making it as hassle-free as possible for residents.  East Riding of Yorkshire Council will continue to offer support and resolve issues with residents for the duration of their new energy contract.

Although the sun may be shining, switching supplier now is a great way to secure lower prices for the winter ahead.

Residents who have not received their offer or who would like to discuss their offer with a council officer can visit the YORSwitch team at Beverley Leisure Centre on Tuesday 15 July, 9am – 5pm.  Alternately, they can pop in to a council customer service centre or call (01482) 393939.
