WALKING FOR HEALTH IN BEVERLEY
East Riding of Yorkshire Council runs a programme of health walks aimed mainly at people who take little or no exercise. It is part of the national Walking for Health initiative offering free walks for beginners.
East Riding of Yorkshire council’s Sport, Play and Arts Service have introduced a new 45 minute walk in Beverley which is aimed to ‘bridge the gap’ from the 30 minute walk (which is held on the first Wednesday of each month) to a one hour walk. The new 45 minute walk will be held on the third Wednesday of every month (18 June, 16 July and 20 August) from Beverley Leisure Complex. After the walk there is a chance to socialise and have refreshments. Everyone is welcome.
The walk will be of low intensity and is a great opportunity to get some exercise whilst getting a glimpse of the local surroundings.
Adam Gibson, East Riding Community Sports Coach and walk leader says: “Walking is a great way to get exercise, get some fresh air and meet new people.
“The new 45 minute walk finds that middle ground between the 30 minute walk being too easy and the one hour walk which is faster paced, being too intense”.
