Computer repair for Driffield, built around the way rural homes and businesses actually work. Driffield is known as the "Capital of the Wolds", and many of the calls I get from YO25 come from farms, small firms and outlying villages where a working computer is essential and the nearest repair shop isn't close.

My workshop is in North Cave, about eighteen miles south. That's why, for Driffield, I start with remote support and keep trips to a minimum.
Remote Support β No Trip Needed
If the computer turns on and has an internet connection, I can usually connect remotely and fix software problems while you carry on with your day. That includes accounts software that won't open, email issues, printer problems, updates and virus clean-ups.
Rural broadband can be slow, but remote support still works well on most connections.
Backups for Farms and Small Businesses
Livestock records, VAT returns, invoices and years of photos often live on a single computer. If that drive fails, it all goes with it. I can set up:
- Automatic backups to an external drive
- A second copy in cloud storage, so a fire or theft doesn't take everything
- A simple check so you know the backup is actually working

When a Drive Has Already Failed
If you've already lost files, stop using the drive and get in touch. In-house recovery for drives without mechanical damage costs Β£80βΒ£140 plus parts, with no fix, no fee. Physically damaged drives go to my specialist partner, Lazarus Data Recovery. See data recovery in East Riding.
Hardware Repairs
Laptops with broken screens, PCs that won't boot and machines damaged by dust or damp need workshop time. Driffield is outside the free collection area, so you can:
- Drop off at North Cave, including early mornings or evenings by arrangement
- Ask about courier collection

Ongoing IT Support
For small businesses, I can be your regular IT person β handling email, security, backups, new computers and problems as they come up. It's one local contact who already knows your setup. Diagnosis is free and repairs come with a 90-day guarantee.
Dust, Damp and Farm Office Computers
Computers in farm offices, workshops and outbuildings live a harder life than ones in a house. Dust clogs fans, damp can corrode connectors, and power cuts can damage a drive mid-write. Some of the computer repair work I do for Driffield and the surrounding villages is simply cleaning out a machine before it fails.
A few simple steps help a lot:
- Keep the PC off the floor and away from doors where dust blows in
- Use a surge-protected extension lead, or a small UPS battery backup
- Have the inside cleaned once a year if it's in a dusty room
- Keep a backup on a drive stored in a different building
If a computer has already been hit by damp or a power surge, switch it off and get it checked before turning it on repeatedly.
