Laptop repair for Swanland, with an honest answer to the question everyone asks: is it worth fixing? I'll diagnose your laptop or MacBook for free and tell you straight whether to repair it, upgrade it or sell it. Sometimes the best advice is to replace it, and I'll say so.

Swanland is a village in HU14, between North Ferriby and Kirk Ella. My workshop is in North Cave, about seven miles west, and I see plenty of laptops from Swanland families β usually one per person in the house, all of different ages.
Repair, Upgrade or Sell?
Repair
Worth it when the laptop is a few years old, otherwise healthy and has one clear fault β a screen, a battery, a keyboard or a charging port.
Upgrade
A slow laptop with an old spinning hard drive can feel new again with an SSD and extra memory, for much less than a replacement. Read why upgrading is often cheaper.
Sell or recycle
If repair costs more than the laptop is worth, I can buy it from you or dispose of it safely, with the data destroyed.

MacBook Repairs
MacBooks are worth repairing more often than people think. Common jobs are battery replacements, MacBooks that won't power on, keyboard faults and screens. Because I can work at board level, a MacBook that another shop has called "dead" can sometimes be brought back. More on the MacBook screen repair page.
Family Computers and Children's Laptops
School laptops take a lot of knocks. I fix broken hinges, sticky keys and cracked screens, and I can set up parental controls and safe browsing so younger children are protected online. If a laptop is being handed down to a child, I'll wipe it, reinstall Windows and set it up fresh.

Secure Data Wiping Before You Sell
Deleting files or "resetting" a laptop doesn't always remove your data. Before you sell or give a device away, I can securely wipe it or physically destroy the drive. This covers laptops, PCs, phones, tablets and loose hard drives. See secure data disposal.
Diagnosis is free, there's no charge if you decide against the repair, and repairs carry a 90-day guarantee.
Replacing a Laptop or MacBook Battery
A worn battery is one of the most common reasons people in Swanland think their laptop is finished. In reality, a new battery often gives a laptop several more years of use. Signs it's time:
- The laptop only lasts an hour or two away from the charger
- It shuts off suddenly at 20 or 30 per cent
- macOS shows "Service Recommended" for the battery
- The case, keyboard or trackpad is being pushed up by a swollen battery
Laptop repair for Swanland customers includes a check of the charging circuit, so the new battery isn't damaged by another fault. If a battery is swollen, stop using the laptop and bring it in.
